Exam 1

Living with the Physical Environment:
Paper 1 is 1 hour 30 minutes. It contains 3 sections. It is worth 88 marks.

Section A Natural Hazardsanswer all questions.
Topics: Tectonic Hazards and Weather Hazards (Tropical storms, Climate Change, UK Extreme Weather).
33 marks – 1 x 9+3 mark extended response, 1 x 6 mark, 1 x 4 mark plus several 1 or 2 marks.

Section B Living World – answer all questions.
Topics: Ecosystems, Tropical Rainforests and Hot Deserts (Do NOT write about Cold Environments)
25 marks – 1 x 9 mark extended response, 1 x 6 mark plus several 1 or 2 marks.

Section C Physical Landscapes – answer two questions from three alternatives.
Topics: River Landscapes and Coastal Landscapes (Do NOT attempt Glacial Landscapes).
Rivers: 15 marks – 1 x 6 mark, 1 x 4 mark plus several 1 or 2 marks
Coasts: 15 marks – 1 x 6 mark, 1 x 4 mark plus several 1 or 2 marks.

Exam 2

Challenges in the Human Environment:
Paper 2 is 1 hour 30 minutes. It contains 3 sections. It is worth 88 marks.

Section A Urban Issues and Challenges – answer all questions.
Topics: Urban Growth in LIC/NEE and Urban Change in UK.
33 marks – 1 x 9+3 mark extended response, 2 x 6 marks plus several 1 or 2 marks.

Section B Changing Economic World – answer all questions.
Topics: Economic Development in LIC/NEE, Economic Futures in the UK.
30 marks – 1 x 9 mark extended response, 2 x 4 marks plus several 1 or 2 marks.

Section C Challenge of Resource Management – answer the first question, then one from three alternatives.
Topics: Resource Management, Water or Energy (But NOT Food).
Resource management (compulsory): 14 marks – 1 x 6 mark.
Water or Energy: 11 marks – 1 x 6 mark.

Exam 3

Geographical Applications:
Paper 3 is 1 hour 30 minutes. It contains 2 sections. It is worth 76 marks.

Section A Issue Evaluation – answer all questions.
Topics: Based on the material in the pre-released booklet.
37 marks – 1 X 9+3 extended response, 3 X 6 marks plus several 1 or 2 marks.

Section B Fieldwork – answer all questions.
Topics: Based on our physical and human fieldwork.
39 marks – 1 X 9+3 extended response, 1 X 6 mark, 1 X 4 mark plus several 1 or 2 marks.
